The Norwood Space Center, for a second year, is a satellite location for ArtWeek Massachusetts 2018. ArtWeek MA begins Friday, April 27th and continues through the week, ending on Sunday, May 6th. We will be planning for two weekends of entertainment, shopping, exhibits, panels, discussions, workshops, food experiences and more. “The Art of…” represents the creative community that thrives within the development. With all those committed to this project, we have the opportunity to create community engagement around the arts and technology.

Our programming begins on Friday, April 27th with an open house to welcome all of our participants and volunteers. Saturday will be filled with panels, workshops, demonstrations, a pop-up market and many themes based around the Beatles. With the help of Chachi LoPrete, popular weekly radio host of “Breakfast with the Beatles” on WUMB, we will be presenting panels, films, collections and a Beatles cover band to entertain and discuss the influence of the Beatles. Sunday will continue with more panels, workshops and family activities. During the week, we will be offering an educational series for small business owners and first time home buyers, along with film documentaries and panel discussions with the creators. Friday and Saturday will continue the momentum with themes based in rock and roll, punk and hip hop.

Some notable programs and exhibits:

  • David Bieber Archive exhibits will include: Janis Joplin, The Beatles, and more.
  • Panels discussing the Beatles, photography, music, literature, hip hop, film and the history of events surrounding the Norwood Space Center – Bird & Sons.
  • The Sneaker Museum will  be showcasing parts of their collection related to Hip Hop.
  • Various artists will be displaying their work in the Long Haul Gallery.
  • Creative tenants will have open studio and workshops available for adults and children.
  • A rotating pop-up market will have unique items for sale.
